In coordination with La Cité de la Voix in Vézelay, Les Inventions performed music by Jean-Philippe Rameau in three high-schools of Burgundy. As this famed Baroque composer was a baccalaureate subject his year and will be again in 2016, the aim was to offer the students a better understanding of his œuvre and influence. In a selection of chamber works and opera excerpts, Les Inventions guided the students through the world of Rameau and in particular his harmonic language. Some of his principles, explained by Patrick Ayrton at the harpsichord, are, for instance, directly linked to later forms such as the blues: a much appreciated comparison to the ears of the attending high-schoolers!
